Oxydive is a Closed Circuit Underwater Breathing Apparatus for stealth operations.
Oxydive is designed for oxygen diving down to a depth of 8 metres.
technical data
dimensions and weight
Dimensions (h x w x d)
500 x 350 x 190 mm
Weight
– with oxygen and sodalime, 13 kg
– without oxygen and sodalime, 10.5 kg
Cylinder volumes
– standard, 1.5 litres, 200 bar (3 000 psi)
– non-magnetic, 1.3 litres, 200 bar (3 000 psi)
duration / operaton time
The 1.5 litres oxygen cylinder charged to 200 bar contains approx. 300 litres free oxygen. This gives a duration/operation time of
3 hours and 20 minutes.
The calculation is based on the assumption that oxygen consumption is 1.5 litres/minute (equivalent to 40 litres/minute when diving with air) – irrespective of the prevailing water temperature.
testing
Oxydive has been tested by the US Navy
Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU), July 1982, Report No. 3-82 "Unmanned Evaluation of six closed-circuit oxygen rebreathers" (James R Middleton).
OXYDIVE is a closed circuit underwater breathing apparatus for stealth underwater operations. Oxydive is in use by tactical special operations divers for undetected reconnaissance or sabotage operations.
oxygen cylinder
The oxygen cylinder is placed between the absorber unit and the breathing bag to protect the breathing bag and the regulator unit. The standard 1.5 litre steel cylinder has a charging pressure of 200 bar (3 000 psi). Cylinders for non-magnetic versions is also available.
regulator unit
The regulator unit consists of four main parts: by-pass valve, dosage unit, relief valve and a buoyancy control unit.
By-pass valve
The diver can always add oxygen into the breathing circuit by activating the by-pass valve manually.
Dosage unit
The dosage unit measures the consumed oxygen volume and injects an equal volume into the breathing circuit with each inhalation. The dosage unit operates without causing or being activated by any breathing resistance.
Relief valve
An automatic relief valve is connected to the regulator unit. It also functions as a relief valve for the breathing circuit which, independent of the divers swimming position, will open if the pressure in the breathing circuit exceeds 200 mm water column (WG).
Buyoyancy control unit
The unit has a selection of four different settings for an increase or decrease of the buoyancy compared to the individual adjustment done at the beginning of the dive. The original buoyancy can be restored at will.
breathing bag
The breathing bag is placed on the divers chest, close to the lungs to achieve lowest possible breathing resistance during inhalation and exhalation.
absorber unit
The absorber unit consists of an absorber housing and cartridge. By insulating the soda lime from the surrounding cold water the duration is almost independent of water temperature. It accomplishe a superior utilization of the soda lime and a low breathing resistance.
The absorber cartridge can be prepacked and stored for a long time.
mouthpiece
Non-return valves in the mouthpiece ensure a low rebreathe of carbon dioxide. The assembly can be shut off with a valve to prevent inward leakage of water
harness
The harness is a robust and easy to use. The whole unit can be quickly released by slipping neck and opening waist buckles.
lifejacket
A lifejacket integrated with the harness is available as an option. When not in use the lifejacket is protected in a zippered cover. The lifejacket is inflated with a C02 cartridge or an air cylinder.
For increased safety the lifejacket can also be furnished with a hydrostatic valve for automatic inflation in case the diver should accidentally descend to a dangerous depth.
maintenance
Breathing apparatus from Interspiro is an investment with a long service life, when properly maintained. To simplify service and to obtain maximum product performance we recommend using our service kits, containing original spare parts necessary for preventive maintenance.
Interspiro offers training courses for users who perform day-to-day service work, as well as training for service personnel performing full maintenance programmes.
