SPIROMATIC S6 is the sixth generation
SCBA of the Spiromatic-S series, designed in accordance
with the 2007 Edition of NFPA 1981.
The Spiromatic
S-series was first developed in 1998, and designed
in anticipation of the rapid changes in electronic
components and their use by fire and rescue personnel.
As the first truly modular SCBA design, the S-series
allowed for rapid integration of these new electronic
features on a reliable, high performance breathing
apparatus.
As new standards have been introduced and
new electronics become more available, S-series customers
can easily upgrade to include these new features. What
makes this rapid innovation possible is the modular
product concept. Each S-series component can be user-removed
and replaced, providing ease of maintenance and economical
upgrades as new technologies develop.

components of spiromatic s6
S-Mask
with Integrated Second Stage Breathing
Valve
The S-Mask
includes an integrated second stage regulator.
By integrating the second stage in the
face mask, the wearer gets better vision,
better sealing due to better weight distribution
and better speech by having the speech
diaphragm directly in front of the mouth.
Better hygiene is another benefit as no
one has to “share” a contaminated
second stage.
The regulator remains securely connected
and well protected at all times. Ambient
air is available at any time without removing
the second stage. This simple and secure
hatch method is safer and quicker than removing
and re-mounting the regulator.
Electronics
(BAC, HUD and PASS)
Our wireless HUD continuously provides hands-free indication of cylinder pressure
and low air alarms. It is well protected inside the face mask and can easily
be removed without tools. A black box (BAC) mounted to the backframe handles
most of the electronic functions including supplying data signal to the HUD.
breathing
apparatus computer (bac)
The black box
mounted on the SCBA backframe monitors
the cylinder pressure and other data, and
then sends that information to the HUD.
The BAC is powered by a standard 9 volt
battery. The BAC case is in its third generation
of design, with each generation stronger
and more reliable than the last. Some other
SCBAs are introducing first generation
designs.
heads-up-display
(hud)
The LED-based
display along the left side of the mask
lens gives hands-free indication
of remaining cylinder pressure and a visual
low air alarm.
The mask frame mounted HUD continues the
Interspiro modular design approach: the
HUD operates independently of the second
stage breathing valve. That means lower
maintenance costs.
personal
alert safety system
(pass)
The PASS function
is contained in a separate chest mounted
module. The Super-PASS is available in
a number of configurations (including two-way
telemetry), and
is automatically activated by air pressure in the SCBA. The PASS mounting bracket
allows the wearer to easily remove the PASS for operations away from the SCBA,
such as wildland fire fighting. All electronics are powered by standard
alkaline batteries.
maintenance
Breathing apparatus
from Interspiro is an investment with a long
service life, when properly maintained. To
simplify service and to obtain maximum product
performance we recommend using our service
kits, containing original spare parts necessary
for preventive maintenance.
Interspiro offers training courses for users
who perform day-to-day service work, as well
as training for service personnel performing
full maintenance programmes.
